Jack White Reunites The Raconteurs After Nearly Seven Years Away from the Stage

The band surprised fans during a concert in Nashville, Tennessee, reuniting onstage with its original lineup.

For those who were already fans of The White Stripes, Jack White’s unmistakable guitar sound is back alongside his bandmates in The Raconteurs. With playful lyrics, powerful guitars, and that familiar sound reminiscent of The White Stripes, the band surprised the audience on Saturday night, October 10, in Nashville.

Joined by Brendan Benson (guitar and vocals), Jack Lawrence (bass), and Patrick Keeler (drums), White shared the stage with his longtime bandmates for the first time since December 2019.

Formed in 2005, The Raconteurs emerged from a collaboration between Jack White and Brendan Benson, blending garage rock, blues, and classic rock with influences reminiscent of the 1970s. The band released its debut album, Broken Boy Soldiers, in 2006, introducing a musical approach that went beyond the raw minimalism of The White Stripes.

And the reunion was more than just a friendly get-together. The quartet performed five songs: “Steady, As She Goes,” “Hands,” “Level,” “Broken Boy Soldier,” and “Carolina Drama,” taking fans on a journey through the band’s repertoire.

The performance comes in the very year that Broken Boy Soldiers celebrates its 20th anniversary. To mark the occasion, Third Man Records, the label founded by Jack White, announced a special edition of the album titled Broken Boy Soldiers XX, featuring rare recordings, demos, and recordings from the band’s very first concert.

The Raconteurs’ most recent studio album, Help Us Stranger, was released in 2019. So far, there has been no confirmation of a new tour or a permanent return to the stage.

But one thing is certain: after nearly seven years, all four musicians are sharing the stage again. And for anyone who loves good old rock’n’roll, that’s already something worth celebrating.

Rocksy — Good sense is fine, but rock’n’roll is better.
